To stop receiving notifications you just need to unsubscribe, or use the options available in the notification manager. For receiving notifications you only need to be subscribed or, in the case of tasks, be the person assigned for completing it. For example, Feng Office will send you a notification when: you are assigned to a task, a task your are responsible of (or subscribed to) is due, or when an object (document, note, event, etc.) your are subscribed to is commented.
